When actor Josefin Neldén walked the Guldbagge Awards red carpet wearing OYS Jewelry, we couldn’t have been more honored. Bold yet graceful, grounded yet radiant – she represents everything we believe in at OYS.
Born in 1984 and raised in Gothenburg, Josefin has become one of Sweden’s most beloved actors, known for her deep, emotional performances and fearless roles on both screen and stage. From underground punk in Tjenare Kungen to the powerful presence of Sally Bauer in The Swedish Torpedo, she’s a woman who lives many lives – and brings truth to every one of them.
A Dream Born on Stage
“I grew up in Gothenburg and took my first steps on stage at age 7 through local theater classes. In my teen years, I wrote ‘actor’ as my dream job in every ‘My Friends’ notebook. At 19, that dream came true with the lead role in Tjenare Kungen – and I instantly fell in love with the magic of the craft.”
In Tjenare Kungen (2005), a coming-of-age story set in the 1980s, Josefin plays Abra – a rebellious young woman who forms a punk band and chases her dream of becoming a rock star. It’s a film full of energy, laughter, and heart – much like Josefin herself.
Sally in The Swedish Torpedo – A Role of Strength
In her most recent film, The Swedish Torpedo, Josefin takes on the role of Sally Bauer – the first Scandinavian woman to swim across the English Channel. The story, set in 1939, follows Sally as she pushes through physical extremes and social limitations, determined to live on her own terms.
“It was the toughest role I’ve ever played. Not just physically – but emotionally, too. Sally stood for something bigger.”
Josefin brings Sally to life with intensity and elegance – and to us, her strength mirrors Josefin’s own: resilient, focused, quietly powerful.
Theater, Connection, and Everyday Magic
After years in film, Josefin recently returned to the stage in An Enemy of the People at Gothenburg’s Stadsteater.
“It’s been wonderful to reconnect with live theater. Every performance is unique – shaped by the audience’s energy in that exact moment. It’s incredibly powerful.”
When she’s not on set or stage, you’ll find Josefin on the rocky shores of Hälsö, a small island in Gothenburg’s northern archipelago.
“A perfect summer day? Crab fishing, sea swims, endless coffee, and a few friends dropping by. In a dream world, the kids would get along too – but that’s probably not happening, haha.”
It’s this mix of honesty, humor, and presence that makes her feel like a kindred spirit to OYS.
